Click here see results from old meets. Random Notes from Annual Meeting February 20, 2008Suellen, Ed, Everet, Joel in attendance. Ski O preparation: Joel to suggest "ski etiquette" tips for Suellen to post in email announcement. Joel preparing flyer to post at athletic centers: REI, Wasatch Touring, White Pine, etc. Ed suggested each person take 5 places like this in their neighborhoods and assume responsibility for posting flyers there each meet. Joel to develop list of such places. Joel to scout control spots and identify if stakes are needed. Suellen to assist getting stakes. Suellen to revise Soldier Hollow map for winter trails and legend. Joel to learn to use OCAD for setting a course from download at http://www.ocad.com/en/downloads.htm. Suellen to assist morning of March 8 - others encouraged to help also. Joel to determine fee for Soldier Hollow. Analysis of 2007 season: Greater participation was great. The REI clinic brought several new families and individuals. Higher numbers were possibly due to later start times in Spring. 1 new person was a meet director. 2 new maps were produced: Brighton and Hidden Valley. Introducing the use of symbols rather than words on clue sheets was a good challenge. New ideas for 2008: Everett to research a booth or joining someone's booth at April 12 Scout-A-Rama at South Towne Expo. An end-of-year picnic would be a great time for a relay or other special party-ish event. Everett will research getting a club banner for display at events on the table. Kilometers and miles should both be announced to advertise events. We should introduce participants to the international symbols used on clue sheets by starting with 10 common ones and providing a cheat sheet - Ed will determine which 10, suellen will make the cheat sheet/poster. Ed will research getting an electronic control system and punches for the future. Everett will serve as the liasson to scout troops. Money: The bank account is stable. We do need to cover printing and software costs. And, we should build a budget to enable us to purchase the electronic control technology. Fees: We will continue to charge only for Soldier Hollow. A contribution "box" will be provided suggesting people donate at each event. After this discussion, someone at the meeting put $20 in the till! THANKS. Leadership: Suellen announced that 2008 will be her last year as President. Notes taker: Suellen Riffkin |
