Courses

  • Score-O with 25 controls, 90 minute limit (total distance varies by route choice and control/checkpoint selection)

A Score O (Score Orienteering) format is a race where competitors visit as many control points as possible, in any order, within the allotted time. Competitors will have 90 minutes to collect as many controls as possible before returning to the finish.

The shortest possible straight line connecting all 25 controls is approximately 5.8 kilometers (3.6 miles). Actual distance traveled will be considerably longer depending on your route choices, terrain, and elevation gain.

SportIdent electronic punching will be used. Beginner instruction will be available at registration.

Weather & Terrain

The forecast currently looks sunny and relatively warm for this time of year. The course will include mountain terrain and elevation changes. Participants should wear sturdy trail shoes and clothing appropriate for the conditions. Please bring plenty of water and be prepared for changing mountain weather.

  • Long pants are not necessary, but for leg protection is recommended.

  • Shoes with good off-road traction are recommended. Some hills are steep and can be slippery with standard road running shoes.
